For the second entry in the #ParametricDaily challenge I have created something extremely simple yet aesthetically interesting: an grid of hexagon-based solids with random heights.

The entire model – fillets included – is based on a Grasshopper definition.

Interestingly, even a very straightforward NURBS geometry like this can hide some unexpected technical challenges: in this case the issue was related to the limits of Rhino’s own mesher, combined with the large planar surfaces and small fillets, which resulted in some rendering artifacts. It proved that sometimes working directly with SubD meshes is the way to go.
