One possible way for producing interesting textures is the use of stripes to create different abstract effects or to suggest real shapes in an evocative way.

In today's entry, the Grasshopper definition creates a series of solid stripes that follow an underlying geometry - but it can be also applied to plain images.

The 3D effect is enhanced by the fact that the width of the stripes decreases with their position along the height. The underlying face was created using MakeHuman with custom settings.

Despite the fact that the algorithm is not particularly complex, I find it very flexible and the resulting effect quite enjoyable, so I'll probably use it more the future.
