Eventually I've fallen into using the famed (and honestly overused) Voronoi pattern: it was a good way for testing an experimental tool I'm currently developing, that automatically closes mesh holes by creating a clean all-quad topology.

In this case all the cells have different layouts and number of edges, and the tool proved to work quite well with the default automatic settings.

This is not something new, and many 3D modelers have these types of tools, however having it inside Grasshopper allows to expand the potential of parametric SubD modeling.
