Following the series of Moebius-themed designs, this time the 3D pattern mapped on the Moebius ring surface is a Gyroid, which provides a very interesting tessellation of 3D space.
the Gyroid itself was created using the IsoSurface component from the Millipede Grasshopper add-on, which is quite powerful and flexible but produces dense meshes with triangular faces that are a bit tricky to smooth out, so the final geometry is very (too) dense, with over 7.5 million polygons.
There are other methods for creating the pattern with a direct, SubD modeling approach (see these tutorials) that could be adapted to a parametric workflow in Grasshopper in the next entries.
