This is a little experiment - the first in a series - that combines generative shapes modeled with Grasshopper with an animation made with the new Eevee realtime render engine included in Blender 2.80.

The original geometry is a variant of the Möbius generative shape, with the mesh extrusion extruded inwards. The geometry was generated in three pieces: the towers bottoms, the light stripes and the top caps. The lighting setup in Blender also includes two point lights. A full loop around inside the ring takes 15 seconds, and the sequence is then looped 3 times to have a seamless animation.
